A documentary called “Cheetah: Cat in Crisis” was broadcast on the television channel Animal Planet on March 26, 2003. The programme dealt with various initiatives by wildlife volunteers to save the cheetah, whose numbers are falling rapidly. The factors underlying the drop in population were also considered, and it was explained how African livestock raisers played an important role in this. The volunteers had waged a long struggle to overcome the problem and finally managed to bring in an effective solution. Kangal breed dogs brought in from Turkey and distributed to farmers not only prevented cheetahs from approaching the livestock, but also prevented the farmers from shooting cheetahs.
As well as dealing with the efforts to control the cheetah population, the programme also provided general information about the animals. The hunting techniques employed by the cheetah, the fastest running animal in the world, were described and their family lives examined. However, Animal Plant also exhibited an important error on the subject of the origins of the cheetah, and included the following words:
“Despite the millions of years of felidae evolution, this perfect wild cat you are watching now is in the most depressive period of its life.”
Animal Planet is suggesting here that the cat family, including cheetahs, emerged as a result of evolution. Yet the fact is that this claim rests solely on the channel’s Darwinist prejudices. It offered no scientific evidence for the cheetah’s alleged millions of years of evolution. Claiming that “cheetahs emerged over millions of years” cannot explain “how” cheetahs might have evolved. Animal Planet is engaging in evolutionist indoctrination here, but quickly glosses over the question of the origin of the cats family (felidae). In fact, like that of the other mammals, the origin of the cat family is inexplicable in terms of the theory of evolution. The fossil record shows that all mammals emerged suddenly and with no common ancestors.
On the other hand, the complex physical design in felines cannot be explained in terms of evolution. Thanks to its perfect design, the cheetah can run faster than any other animal: Its spine, which can be tensed like a bow, its long legs and muscular structure allow it to sprint at 125 miles per hour. The claws on its feet, which grip the ground like the tread on a tyre, give it wonderful mobility. Its tail, which serves as an organ of balance, makes it possible for the cheetah to manoeuvre quickly when chasing its prey.
When these details in the cheetah are examined it can be seen that these come together to allow the cheetah to run very fast, and that they work in harmony. It is clear that there is engineering design here. Yet Animal Planet puts forward a totally unrealistic claim regarding the origin of that design. The documentary maintains that this design is the product of the animal’s “evolutionary engineering.” Actually, this claim is not even defensible within the theory of evolution’s own logic, as evolutionists accept that neither a cheetah nor any other living thing can evolve itself. The idea that a living thing might think “If my legs were a bit longer and my back could flex, then I could run faster” and then alter the design of its own body is complete nonsense. It is therefore impossible for the cheetah to produce any engineering. On the other hand, it is just as nonsensical to equate engineering with evolution.
Evolutionists defend their theories on the basis of such “blind” mechanisms as random mutation and natural selection. (Random mutations and natural selection possess no evolutionary force whatsoever.) These imaginary mechanisms work not according to a pre-designed model but randomly, and the effects of mutation are inevitably harmful and are unable to provide a living thing with any advantage or benefit. Engineering, on the other hand, is a process which operates consciously, by stages, and according to a pre-established design. In short, the concept of “evolutionary engineering” is nonsense.
We realise that the design of any work of engineering, when we se a computer for instance, has been drawn up by an engineer. No rational person could possibly maintain that the computer came into being as a result of such chance natural effects as wind and lightning.
The design in the cheetah is a far superior marvel of engineering to that in the most advanced computer. That design rests on large quantities of “information.” The information in cheetah DNA is thousands of times greater than that used in the production of any computer. All the information regarding the cheetah’s fur, which allows it to camouflage itself, the length of its legs, the teeth which allow it to tear its prey apart, the claws which increase its power when running, its bow-like spine which propels its body forward, and its many other organs which we have not listed here are all encoded in its DNA. Were this information to be put down on paper the result would be an encyclopaedia of many volumes. To say that such an enormous amount of engineering information emerged as the result of blind chance is an even more irrational claim than that the user’s guide for the most advanced computer was written by a monkey randomly tapping away at the keys.
All this shows that that the cheetah is the work not of blind chance but of God, our Creator, and His superior might and intelligence.
The claims made on the Animal Planet channel are nothing more than amateur evolutionist propaganda. The channel attempts to indoctrinate its viewers with the idea that the outdated belief Darwinism is actually a scientific truth. Yet it does not do so openly, because there is no “proof of evolution” that it can offer, for which reason it prefers to scatter the word “evolution” around as it describes the living things it examines. Our suggestion to the television channel team is that they objectively reconsider the modern scientific findings. They may then realise what a huge error the Darwinism they so blindly believe in actually is.
